10 Reasons You Will Love a Home Gym

Once upon a time, I had a gym membership...

I am a hustler and have a busy life. There was a point when I had gone from doing five days split routines to 3-day full body workouts so that I could squeeze a little more time for my work. One day I was sitting under a tree, and an apple fell on my head. At that very moment, I was enlightened and realized that the secret to a happy life was within: the HOME GYM.

Now if you are someone like me who has a busy schedule, lives far away from the local gym or want privacy in your workouts; then you can benefit from a home gym. I am going to show you the ten reasons of having an in-home gym.

1. Save time on commute

On an average, your gym will probably be at least a 10-15 min ride from your house. Considering a round trip, you will be spending a minimum of thirty minutes extra traveling for your workouts. You can utilize this time for preparing for your workout(like meals, shakes, etc.) or catch up with your loved ones.

2. Save money (ka-ching)

The average gym membership cost is around $60 per month, and including the joining fee it can easily end up being around $800 per year. Though the initial cost of setting up an in-house gym may be in the range of $100 - $2000, it will cost you less in the long run. Plus you need to set it up just once, and then your entire family can stay fit using that equipment. Hence the home gym works out (pun intended) to be a hell lot cheaper than the gym membership. Also, you don't have to build a complete gym all at once; especially if you are just getting started. In that case, you can add on more pieces of equipment as you progress.

3. No excuses

"Eighty percent of success is showing up." - Woody Allen

The difference between winners and losers is that winners show up. A big part of carving your dream body is to be consistent. Whether it's raining or snowing, the gym is closed because of a holiday or a festival; you simply don't have an excuse to not workout when your gym is in your basement. There isn't anything that can stop the beast within you from getting a good workout. Yes, I am talking to you.

4. Workout at your time

Is it a Sunday? Is the gym open only in the first half? Can't fall asleep as your body isn't tired? Want to burn some calories during your mini breaks or while watching your favorite TV show (Don't be a couch potato)? Workout anytime you feel the motivation.

5. Privacy

How do I like to workout? You guessed it right: Butt naked. Okay, I am just kidding. But knowing that you can exercise in whatever that makes you comfortable is amazing. Also, if you are someone who is just starting out then you might feel self-conscious because of your current level of fitness, then the privacy that the in-house gym offers will feel great.

6. Freedom

Several gyms have restrictions that prevent you from lifting heavy weights or performing the best compound workouts like squats, deadlifts, clean and press, etc. They say it can be dangerous, but what's dangerous is listening to their advice.

7. No waiting

We all know Dick, the guy who never leaves the equipment till all his sets are complete. Mommy and Daddy just didn't teach him to share. Anyways sharing the equipment can become an ordeal when they are three or more people using it at the same time. Also, it can be annoying to get your supersets done meaningfully during the busy times.

8. Convenience

We have already covered some pointers that add to the convenience factor like working out anytime, no commute, etc. If you don't like the idea of bathing in a public bathroom or driving all sweaty back to your home, then the proximity of your bathroom from your sanctuary will be a big plus. Besides, it is effortless to get your workout shakes or your post-workout meal.

9. Control your environment

Generic workout music in the gym just doesn't cut it for me. I like having control of the tunes that duet with the tempo of my workout. You might think an iPod and a pair of sports headphone will work just fine. But well you got to experience the feel of your sound system blasting the room and giving the push you need to get a rep or two more.

10. Insured

Well if you have a gym membership that ain't transferable to another center, and if you happen to relocate, then your yearly membership just goes down the drain. Even if it's transferable the chance that the gym will be close to your new nest is slim to none. However, in case of the home gym, you can take it along with you or sell it off on Craigslist and recover a good portion of your investment.

I hope that does cover most of the benefits of having a home gym. So, what are you waiting for? Setup your personalized gym now! Don't know where to start. Well, that's why we are here to help.
